Day 1:
Welcome to our nation’s capital! You will be greeted at the airport by yourpersonal driver. Visit Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. is a fully interactive, full-sensory experience, where visitors are able to touch, see and hear major historical events and celebrities in a way unlike any other Washington D.C. attraction. Later, check-in to your city center hotel before dinner this evening.
Day 2:
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby and depart. Visit the National Archives, spacious rotunda of the National Archives contains the original Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. For the first time in modern history, all the pages of these documents are on display to the public. Next, visit the National Museum of American History. This museum enjoyed a complete make-over and renovation! Browse through the new state-of-the-art gallery that offers a spectacular view of the Star Spangled Banner, and view the exhibits that top the list of must-sees for any visitor with a taste for true Americana. See the First Ladies’ inaugural gowns, quilts, cars, locomotives and much, much more. Next, visit the White House Visitor’s Centercan explore an interactive touchscreen tour of the White House, view over 90 artifacts from the White House collection, shop at the White House Historical Association retail store, and view the 14 minute film, “White House: Reflections From Within. Next enjoy time to stop and see the National World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. After time for dinner, depart and continue on an Illuminated Monument Driving Tour. Washington’s grand buildings, memorials, and monuments sparkle and are impressive during the day; but in the evenings they are illuminated, soft, focusing the solid stones and bronzes; fountains and water features shimmer in reflection; shadows darken highlighting the floodlit detail. Impressive during the day – stunning at night! Tonight you will see, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima Statue), Air Force Memorial, Washington Monument, National World War II Memorial.
Day 3:
After breakfast meet your guide and depart for the Capitol Visitor Center on Capitol Hill. Visit the United States Capitol, the most recognized symbol of democratic government in the world, the U.S. Capitol has housed Congress since 1800 and is one of the most imposing public buildings in the world. The Capitol is where Congress meets to write the laws of our nation, and where presidents are inaugurated. Its ceilings are decorated with historic images, and its halls are lined with statuary and paintings representing great events and people in the nation’s history. Visit the United States Library of Congress .Explore. Discover. Be Inspired! Established as an act of Congress is 1800, The Library of Congress is the largest national library in the world with more than 100 million items in three buildings. Tour the Supreme Court Building, within the walls of this white marble monument the third branch of government exercises its mandate to protect and interpret the spirit of the Constitution. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Capitol Visitor’s Center Cafeteria. Next, Arrive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Tour the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. somber and moving museum tells the story of the Holocaust through artifacts, films, photographs and oral histories. Following this, tour the Bureau Engraving and Printing (pending availability), a great place to learn all about U.S. paper currency. You can see millions of dollars being printed as you walk along the gallery overlooking the production floor! Return to your hotel and enjoy free time for dinner.
Day 4:
Following an early breakfast meet you guide in the lobby to start your day at Arlington National Cemetery). No land in American is more sacred than this square mile. It is America’s shrine to valor and sacrifice. This is the final resting place for President John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Robert F. Kennedy, Edward Moore (Ted) Kennedy, Audie Murphy, prizefighter Joe Louis, and thousands of soldiers from every major U.S. war. Next, Arrive at the Pentagon City Mall, and then visit your choice of the Smithsonian Institution’s museums on the National Mall. Then, Drive along Embassy Row. After the Civil War, the powerful and socially elite built large mansions along Massachusetts Ave, and after the Great Depression, many of the families who built these homes went broke. Today, the area is known as Embassy Row. Embassies, associations, foundations, and clubs have claimed and restored these lovely homes. Next, tour the Washington National CathedralIn a city of impressive monuments, memorials, and historic sites, the National Cathedral is unique. After a wonderful day, return to your hotel for dinner.
